De koninklijke zeemeermin zwom naar me toe. Ik bleef heel stil staan en bleef Nicholas' arm vasthouden.

De zeemeermin schraapte zijn keel. Ik zette me schrap, onzeker of hij in een taal zou spreken die ik zou herkennen. Ondanks alle mogelijke ongemakkelijkheid hier, wilde ik zeker niet onbeleefd zijn.
