De volgende ochtend werd Alyssa wakker van het rinkelen van haar mobiele telefoon. Ze opende langzaam haar waterige ogen en keek naar de telefoon die aan de zijkant bleef trillen.

Om haar schijn van een eenvoudig meisje op te houden, gebruikte ze nog steeds de oude machine die alleen kon bellen en berichten kon versturen. Door een smartphone te kopen zou ze net als haar andere familieleden worden en ze kon het niet verdragen om net als hen te zijn.

Ze pakte haar telefoon, keek naar de beller-ID en kwam meteen weer bij zinnen.
